So yesterday I left Korea upon finishing my 1 year contract. While going through Immigration I handed over my passport and ARC to get checked out. Now they took my co-teachers card from her but they returned mine to me. Any reason why? |

Did you actually tell them you weren't coming back? |

a) Time remaining on your card and you didn't say you were not returning.
b) You said you would return.
A or B. Pick one.

I'm not sure how much time I have left on it.......since I got it a few weeks after I arrived in Korea I would guess it has a few weeks on it. The person at the airport didn't ask me if I was coming back or not, they basically just let me through. |

It should tell you on the reverse side. I have about 6 months left and they asked me if I want to return, but I'm not sure if there's a rule.
Just find out the address of your former immigration office or take the big one in Yongsan-gu and mail it in. |

This begs the question: Are you coming back? If no, then who cares? |

I guess in the long run, those who stay and those who will come should care. For instance, if too many people do this and the government decides to introduce a mandatory deposit on the card.
For the individual, of course, Atlas shrugged. |

No worries. They were supposed to ask if you were coming back. It will be a nice souvenir. |
