ooohhhh, sounds scary...a SILENT rally.
No, but really, I'm interested to hear from the people who went and how it all went down.
Hoping for some good arrest stories or clashes with the locals.
But come on...SILENT protest? What a awkward group gathering that must have been. Let's all stand around as strangers and look at each other.

It wasn't silent.
All the Waygooks started signing "We Shall Overcome".
And then the cops came in and busted the thing up because the protest didn't have a permit. |

Last I heard anti-english spectrum peeps came out and clashed with the anti-MBC peeps! There were several stabbings! Ah, I kid.
As far as I know, it's still going on? They were planning to 'protest' till 5pm. |

| About 15 people showed up and then later a few confused security guards. It wasn't really that impressive for a facebook group that has 7,000+ members. |

Wow. Pitiful. I saw the Facebook page and it said 103 people were going and only 15 or so came?
If you say you're going to go, you should go. To have a 15% turn out rate is pretty sad. |

I really don't want to beat up on this being an apologist and all. I mean it's a good cause and the 17 people who did show up deserve to be congratulated.
But I can't help picture that for the 86 who didn't go, something like this happened the night before.

I think if more of a notice is given and a better time chosen, then there might be a better turnout. |

Nowadays there are such things as online petitions. |

I say more power to MBC. To make Korea change its ways is to help it. I've been kicked in the head too many times by Korea to want to help it in any way. I do my job to the best of my ability, and obey all laws, but that's where my obligations end. If Korea wants to continue to make an international asshat out of itself so be it. I used to get outraged by this type of reporting, but now I just sit back and enjoy watching the moral train wreck that is South Korea.
Pathetic thing is, they want us to love them.  |

Korea is stuck in our past so it seems street protests are appropriate. But seriously, an online protest will not do much here. A street protest of hundreds of foreigners would have a greater effect in this country.
Imagine if we all protested the general racism experienced here and mostly unfair working conditions. I bet a temporary change would occur. |

It was very last minute, and it's actually more difficult to coordinate in a group that large. The page was a mess. |

While there's a lot to say about the issue, the stupidity of the reporting, this or that aspect of how people could or should respond, I have to say your sentiments more or less sum it up for me.
From the most basic suggestions on how something is really said in English to the helpful suggestions of a friend of mine (working within a Korean corporation) on a Korean project deteriorating on the docks of a third country - your input is simply circling the drain waiting for the final descent into the bottom of the bowl. |
