|
|
I'm shadow managing a small bar that also happens to serve food in Itaewon. We are looking to change many things, so I'd like to hear from you about what you would like to see.
Maybe you're looking for a particular kind of food?
Perhaps you want a hard-to-find beer?
Is there a kind of theme or game night you think would be fun?
All serious ideas are sincerely appreciated. Thanks. |

If you have a pool table and low key atmosphere with fresh draft beer and a few decent things to eat, my friends and I would definitely become regulars. |

Wonderful. I assume you left out the name for a reason but I'm curious about what establishment you're talking about. I definitely second the pool table idea big time. I know it's probably a tall order, but if you served any variation of southern BBQ, I would be all over that. It seems BBQ is completely lacking in Itaewon, as far as I know. The ribs at many places always seem to leave something to be desired with me. But a simple smoked brisket sandwich with onions, pickles, and quality BBQ sauce would get me in there regularly. Again, I understand that's a lot to ask.
A well seasoned steak, mashed potatoes and gravy would be awesome. JR does that (and many other things) well. Though their potatoes aren't mashed potatoes.
A Tex-Mex option, maybe some fajitas or enchiladas (ingredients that can likely be obtained cheaply) would definitely make me a regular.
Spicy chicken sandwich too, I haven't been able to find one of those anywhere, but I miss it. Wendy's style, kind of.
And how about a sloppy joe? Hard to mess that one up. I know Bless U serves them and they're pretty good, but fairly meager portions.
Apologize in advance, I'm really hungry right now. But good luck.
Oh, and American sports on TV, pretty please. |

Buy or have fabricated one of those big cast iron smokers or wait until your lease is up and find a place where you could attach an actual smokehouse and move there.
I'd come more than the 3 hours it takes to get to Seoul for some great BBQ.
I don't think there are any places like this in Itaewon or elsewhere in Korea. |

Gambrinus on tap. I know this beer company from the Czech Republic is trying to push their beer in Korea. I see it every once and awhile in 7-11's. Amazing stuff. |

please don't make a crappy poolhall for overweight foreigners. there are plenty of places to play pool in korea already.
please do get a nice delicious stout on tap. i have yet to see one in korea, and no guiness does not count. it's the worst joke of a mass-produced stout out there. |

Agreed with the previous poster re: genuine BBQ
For me and my friends, MUSIC is a big one. Have a system where anyone can request a song, either downloaded from the internet or as part of a HUGE and DIVERSE catalog.
I realize most people are fine just listening to the same awful Bon Jovi song over and over again... but that's my .02. |

Thank you for all the input received so far.
Unfortunately, there's not really enough room for a pool table.
Smoked food seems like it'd be nearly impossible to do in Seoul; first we'd need a lot of imported wood, second we'd be making a ton of smoke and the neighborhood would not be kind to that.
Spicy chicken sandwich is a good idea.
Sloppy joe is a good idea too.
American sports on TV should happen too.
Don't really have room for Gambrinus on tap, but am looking to stock a large selection of bottles. It might be a part of it.
No room for darts, unfortunately.
Buffalo wings--good idea.
Cigars? Light 'em up.
Stout on tap? Not much room for a selection of draft beers. While I'd surely drink up the stout, few others would.
Pretty waitresses? Done.
Music is already able to be requested.
All good ideas that will help with the overhaul.
More ideas are welcome...[/b] |

Yes to cigars and no room for darts? That place will be full of smoke in 2 minutes. Ick. |

Well gosh, Nashvilles did so well. Please tell me you're hitting up Craftworks indoors, Jackobys, the handful of no smoking places that get advertized.
But hey, if you want to sit down for a nice dalkkalbi dinner, Chuncheon has your number. Even the most hole in the wall restaurants were smoke free. |

Adequate air ventilation of the cigarette smoke. Aircon's don't bring in enough fresh air as they just recycle indoor air to make it cooler.
A wider selection of European as well as imported American beers. Something more than Erdinger and brewed in Korea Budweiser.
Cool mix of itunes from Australia, Europe, and the USA. |
