Have you tried going to your korean bank and asking for a wire transfer? If you know the bank account number in the US it should be fairly easy to do. Most banks charge a small fee though depending on how much you transfer.

Go to your bank with the bank account information for your bank in the U.S.A. That includes the wiring transfer number. Each bank has one. Also bring your passport and Alien card. If you have any problems you can use another bank.

One off, small funds (<$1500) = money order if time is not a factor and you are cheap. Mail it off. He gets it in about a week. Drawn on a US bank there is no problem to cash it.

One off, small funds = bank wire or western union if time is a factor (not the cheapest option).

Large funds (>5million won) = always bank wire.

Most banks seem to take a fee on top of the exchange fee for themselves and then try to blame it on my bank back home. If you have to send money back quickly then a bank transfer is best. Otherwise, take cash when you fly back.
