A kid at my school developed one. The doctor said that it was because he was left-handed and the Korean teachers and his parents forced him to use his right hand. I'm sure the stress of eight hours a day at school at age six probably had something to do with this.

Not related to the tic problem but I had a student with parents/grandparents that wanted me to teach their kid to write with his right instead of his left. His stupid grandmother would come into the class and tell me to 'correct' him. I told her, "Uh, no. I'm not going to do that." My bosses asked me to 'correct' him. "Uh, no. I'm not going to do that." After a few weeks, they just stopped asking me and left the kid alone. Moronic.

I've noticed a few tics in my students over the years. Of course the majority of the cases are because of stress. How do you go about curing something like this? Give the kid a beer and a smoke?

On the rise? I thought it was already prevalent.

maybe there is a positive correlation between having a tic disorder and grade related suicides (fan deaths). Someone should do a study.

Then again, I have yet to meet a Korean that doesn't believe in ghosts.

Quoting out of context sure does make you look witty and smart. The article clearly states tic disorders can be brought on by stress and the stress of a left-handed person constantly being forced to write with their non-dominant hand could cause that.

Does it cure racist tendencies as well?

Please read my posts to completion before quoting me out of context.

I'm a Leftie and proud. If a parent or teacher asks me to make a child write with their left hand, I'll ask them what the problem with it is.
If they say " because of tic disorders"...I'll point out that my brother is right handed and has a tic disorder...and I'm Left handed and have never had a tic disorder...
That should shut them up. And then I'll encourage the kid to write with his left hand and be proud, develop beautiful handwriting, and go prove anyone who says "left handed people are < whatever>" wrong.
I stick up for lefties.

that's not what it says..
that was someone quoting out of context. An individual who is left handed but is being forced to write right handed would become highly stressed and possibly develop a tic disorder. They weren't claiming they got a tic disorder because they were left handed..
