Hi,

I'm looking to be in Bucheon from August and it will be my first time in Korea. I'm sure that this gets asked many times but I cannot find an up to date answer.

How do I go about setting up utilities such as gas, electricity and water in my name? What about internet or TV (something like Sky which is a digital TV provider in the UK or cable)? TV wise, just a few English and sport channels that show English football.

I have found enough info about mobile phones. I've got an iPhone 4 (uk model) which I need to unlock and then I should be able to get a plan with someone like KT. Is this easy enough to do once in Korea?

From what I read, in order to set things up you need to show your ARC, passport, bank details, contract, etc along with start up costs.

All I need is internet access so I've got wifi in my apartment, TV with some English channels and a mobile phone.

Any ideas on what I need to do? Apologies for the number of questions but if anyone can point me in the right direction, then that would be great.

Thanks,

Brez

Wait till you get here.

Your apartment may or may not already have cable and internet (previous teacher).

If it is an office tel you may get it through the cable company or through the building's front office. The billing may or may not be included in your monthly "maintenance bill" along with gas, electric, water, etc.

Same with internet.

Until you know where you will be living (specifically) it is all moot.

Your school should help you get it all squared away (since you probably don't speak Korean).
