If you haven't, heed my words. If you have, feel free to vent.
I got to say, I was really excited for this movie ever since I heard about it being made. I'm a huge huge Alien fan and I respect Ridley Scott as a director. I was expecting this movie to be the best movie I'll see this year. I was solely disappointed.

Without giving away the plot (Which is full of holes by the way), I found the movie lacking sense and consistency. Some themes and scenes were just pointless. The character develop was weak and I was left scratching my head at some of the decisions they made. Some characters were inconsistent and some straight up acted like idiots. They do shit that you'd expect from a crappy slasher movie with highschoolers, not scientists in an extremely expensive space expedition. There's plenty of violence and gore, but the lack of plausible characters and tension and consequence, destroys any impact and emotion those scenes might have had.

This movie isn't Alien, but one can't help but make comparisons to it because even though it tries to be a stand alone movie, it ends up feeling like a prequel. If you go into the theatre with Alien in your mind, you'll be disappointed. It doesn't hold a candle to Alien. Alien did a lot more with less. However the visuals are awesome. The monsters also look good. I've read some criticisms on the acting, but I thought was fine; it was the script that's at fault. That's pretty much all the good things about this movie. I'm might watch the original Alien and Aliens to alleviate my disappointment.

That being said, it's not the worse movie I've seen. I liked it more than the Avengers, although the Avengers does what it sets out to do better than Prometheus. The movie might be better if the viewer didn't have any expectations and/or didn't see the original Alien (although there are some scenes that make more sense if you did see Alien). I found myself enjoying the movie more when I turned off my brain and stopped thinking too much. This movie pretends to be a deep, poetic sci-fi adventure exploring the origins of mankind, but it's not. It's a cool looking sci-fi monster flick with a just a tiny wad of philosophy.

I'm gonna watch this movie again with a different mindset when the director's cut gets released.

I had plans to see it next week.. but after all of the user reviews I've seen disappointed in it, I think I'll give it a pass (in the theatres). Might head to The Huntsman instead.

Not sure if the Huntsman will be better man...

The thing about this is that while I was disappointed, I still want to tell people to see it and judge for themselves. It's not a terrible movie and there are some good things about it, especially considering the shit fest hollywood movies these days are. Just don't go in with any expectations. If you plan to watch it with your wife/girlfriend, make sure she's okay with movie gore. I think my girlfriend's complaining about the gore in the movie did affect my viewing experience somewhat.

Fermentation, can use your thesaurus app and find an adjective other than the S-word? Thanks.

I wanted to go see it, then my buddy said it was one of the worst movies he had ever seen and basically unwatchable, so I think I'm going to give it a pass.

Well, I still have plans with my wife to see the matinee this Saturday, so I'll check back here with my review. I never saw Aliens, so I don't have that to compare it to.
I saw Huntsman last week, good movie overall, I give it 8/10. The beginning and end are great. Middle drags.

I just saw it tonight. It's not that bad, by current Hollywood standards, and I'm a rabid Aliens fan. If this is indeed a (desperately-needed) reboot of the series it's an ok start. As one of the posters above said, the director's cut should be interesting.

6.5/10

Don't say that. They loosened the rules (no idea why) and I curse like a sailor but you fall back on the word a bit much on here. I'd rather be warned when I go overboard and lighten up than be censored.

As for the movie, I'm hoping to see it next Saturday after watching Alien and Aliens with the girlfriend to get her up to speed a bit. I've not read any online reviews and a friend said it was worth seeing so I'm still psyched.

The word filter has been busted forever.

A woman has a vagina, a man has a *beep*.

That is the only word blocked by the filter that I can find, and there's nothing even wrong with it.

I had no expectations for Prometheus to begin with. Ridley Scott is such an on-again, off-again director, I didn't dare.

Visually it is great. Charlize Theron plays her character very well. To me she is as believable as the queen in this as she was as Aileen Wournos in Monster.

I saw it on IMax yesterday. While it looked pretty in 3d, the movie had a flimsy plot-line and instantly forgettable characters (except for the android). It also left a lot of questions open at the end in lieu of a sequel. Not classic film-making by any means.

Ive been excited about prometheus for some time now so I am still going to go see it this Sunday event though many people say it is bad.

I cant imagine it will be as bad as Huntsman. Theron was good but not good enough to make the movie good. On the other hand, the twilight girl was bad, and bad enough to make the movie bad.

MIB 3 is better than huntsman lol.

In my opinion it is still worth a watch. I didn't regret spending money on it (although I won't do it again). I read bad reviews too but that didn't stop me from watching it.

I had one of my posts deleted because I used the p-word. I used it in a non-offensive descriptive sense, such as "to me that symbol looks like a man's p----." Only I used a space between the p and the other four letters so that it wouldn't get filtered. A few weeks later that post was removed, so apparently someone does think it's wrong.
