Am I the only one who hates clicking on a possibly interesting thread title only to find nothing other than a link in the OP?

If I had the time to watch a documentary, I wouldn't be reading Dave's.

A brief descrption describing what the video is about would have been helpful.

Maybe the OP was very busy.

It is indeed a busy time of year what with finals for the kiddies around the corner, and whatnot.

Here's the description from below the video-

[ 'Global economy' is a modern Orwellian term. On the surface, it is instant financial trading, mobile phones, McDonald's, Starbucks, holidays booked on the net. Beneath this gloss, it is the globalisation of poverty, a world where most human beings never make a phone call and live on less than two dollars a day, where 6,000 children die every day from diarrhea because most have no access to clean water.]

All that sucks, but it's not as if food and water scarcity are inventions of the modern market economy.

The video was made in 2001. Things may have changed a little since then. They should make a new doco.

Yes, we all know the global economy has improved heaps since then, which has led to multinational corporations treating their sweatshop labor to even better conditions

Globalization is neither the cause of, nor the solution to, global poverty.
