So I am planning to move to South Korea,I know crazy right?!?!
Well I am planning on getting a job teaching. In all I want to know pretty much what I have to do from the Degree I must have to getting off the plane over there. Any tips guides are definitively welcome.

Any four degree from an accredited university will do. No degree mills or associate degrees accepted. This degree MUST be from Canada, America, U,K, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand or South Africa.
You MUST have a clean national criminal background check. Years ago this rule was somewhat relaxed but now they have an employee surplus so can afford to be picky. Anything on your record at all and it is pretty much a conclusion that you will not be hired.
You must have a passport and hold a nationality from one of the seven countries listed above.
There are more requirements but these are the big three. If you satisfy all of these then feel free to post again for further info. If you do not meet even one of these requirements then you will have to find another career. |

You MUST read the FAQs.
NOTHING much has changed in the last 10 years or so other than the addition of the apostille on your degree copy and CRC.

| Yup completing my 4 year university right now, American Citizen, and my record is spotless. except for a speeding ticket 4 years ago ...lol |

I am looking for a good recruiting company, that when I am ready to look for a job, they know what they are doing? Any one has any ideas on those?

Newbies... full of enthusiasm... just like cute little puppies.
Save your breath and start reading instead of looking at the pretty pictures and travel brochures. Then you won't be asking questions like, "how high is up?"
Figure out which way is up before you put your foot in your mouth. There is no shortage of jobs in EFL in Asia and there will be 10 jobs waiting for you after your grad and you have your parchment in your hot hands.
You are at best almost a year away from needing a recruiter; their forward looking time frame is ASAP to 60 days and you are looking at 360+.
Beyond that you are nothing more than a tire kicker to be ignored by all but the most desperate of recruiters (you along with the other million starry-eyed grads this year and a million more coming up in your grad year).

Upon exiting the plane you must find the first ajosshi you see and rub his belly and head at the same time in a counter-clockwise motion. This is seen as a great sign of respect in Korea.
Be warned, though. If you pet an ajosshi, he will likely want to drink soju with you. Sort of like "if you give a mouse a cookie". |

| When I found this forum I read every relevant FAQ thread in the job discussion and general forums, and also the book The Koreans by Michael Breen. If you do the same you'll have a good idea what to expect in terms of visa, applying for jobs, working and living in Korea. Make sure you read about and prepare for culture shock too. |

| Don't teach illegally and don't believe everything that recruiters tell you. Try to get a job near Seoul and near a subway station. Make sure you have health insurance and pension. The best friends you'll make could be Koreans and look for friends outside of the education industry. Don't sit at home on weekends. Get out and do something. Oh, and save your money. Wire it right after payday. You'll thank me later for all of this advice. |
