More information coming out about the S3 in Korea.
It seems the 3G model will be basically the same as the international version that is being sold already in Europe and elsewhere. This means the 3G model will not have a DMB tv tuner, which will make it the first Samsung smart phone sold in Korea without DMB TV (Google Nexus models excluded).
Also the Galaxy S3 sold in Korea will not include the free Dropbox storage option that is available elsewhere. Apparently the telecoms have successfully blocked this because they want to be able to sell their own cloud storage solutions. I've also seen reports that the same thing may happen in the USA.
Still no official local release dates yet, but it appears that Samsung is planning some sort of press conference for June 19, and the 3G model is expected to go on sale shortly after that.
Don't know what to make of all this.... I'm getting sick of waiting, and in the meantime it seems that any news that does come out is bad news. I don't watch DMB a whole lot, but I occasionally do, and it would certainly be nice to have. Makes the 4G option a little more interesting I guess. But maybe it's time to start taking a closer look at some of the new LG phones. |
