|
|
Hi folks,
How do you guys pay for flights with Cebu Pacific?
They say on their site that they accept credit cards but theres nothing about debit cards.
I have a KEB expat account and I was told that I could use my debit card in other countries, but I then found out accidentally that I have to get it authorised/registered for foreign use in a branch before i go anywhere.
And they couldn't tell me if I could use it to book flights.
Anyone with KEB bank here? Can you book flights with their card?
Also, on the Cebu website, they list paying at ATM's as a payment option, can this be done in Korea and if so, how does it work, do you make a provisional reservation and then pay within 24 hours or somehting?
(One other question, Mine's a Rainbow card with no visa symbol on it. Is it possible for a card to be a visa debit card but not have the symbol on it?).
Thanks. |

I have paid with an American debit visa card. IF it has a visa logo it might work. You might have to look for someone to pay it with a credit card. There is a Cebu office in Seoul, but not sure where. Maybe in Itaewon. |

I have paid with both an American debit and credit card.
Unless things have changed from a couple years ago when I opened my KEB account, you will not be able to use it. They told me that using ATM's in other countries is fine, but buying actual things will not work. You can try once the card is internationally activated, but I would not count on it working. |

Agree with the above. I also tried to book a Cebu Pacific flight with my KEB check card and had no luck. Just put it on one of my American credit cards. |

A Korean debit card will not work.
A Korean credit card will work but you will have problems with the verification thing unless you can read Korean.
They have a ticket office in Seoul - Sejongno, kitty corner from the Kyobo book store.

Thanks very much folks.
Can you get the same prices in the office as you can online?
Also, how about Expedia, cheapflights.com, kayak.com and other major flight booking sites, do they take a Korean debit card? |

They charge an extra 5k won over the counter.
North American travel/ticket websites suck when it comes to flights in Asia.
No, they usually won't/can't take a Korean debit card (Korean bank issue).
Other options would be something like whypaymore.com or 072.com (Korean sites) and you can pay at a local ATM with your debit card.

Hey, I'll try contacting them though there's nothing on their FB page about buying expensive flights for people but I'll give it a shot.
Failing that, is there any other way of buying flights if one doesn't have a credit card?
Do the Chinese airlines have offices that you can go to to purchase flights?
Or do any of the sites like Kayak or Expedia take Korean debit cards? |

1) Korean travel agency (072.com or whypaymore.com) and you can pay at an ATM with your K-debit card.
2) yes, many of them are around Seoul City Hall. Exit 1,, turn right, walk down the street and look for the signs on the buildings. There are about 100 airlines with offices along there.
3) No.

Wow brilliant as always Tom. Thank you.
One more question. How about Air Asia? I'm going to have to book flights with them also.
Do they have an office near Seoul Station or take a Korean debit card by any chance?
Or is there any other way without a credit card? |

I don't know about Air Asia and that was City Hall Station and NOT Seoul Station.
