I live in a small city and all the hardware stores I've found here are tiny. Usually they're the size of a small convenience store. But even when I've been in the bigger cities (Seoul, Busan, etc.), I've never noticed any big hardware stores. I realize Koreans tend to hire people to do their renovations so there's less demand for a big-box style hardware store, but do any of you know of any big stores in Seoul? And if so, where are they? (nearest subway station would be great)

Thanks

I've noticed the same thing. Even in Seoul the hardware stores are tiny. I've never seen a big one anywhere, and i've been here a few years. If you find out, let me know too.

I have NEVER seen a big-box type of hardware store (ACE hardware, Home hardware, etc) in Korea.

B&Q opened about 8 years ago but didn't last long. Homeplus and Emart tend to have basics. Other than that you're screwed...

을지로 right in downtown Seoul is tool central. There are hundreds of tool shops there, and together they have pretty much any hardware-related item imaginable. Why do you need big tool shops when dozens of little shops do the job just as well or better?

I've been to a few "big" hardware stores in korea ( daejeon). They arent Home depot big but they are big. The ones i went to had model kitchens, doors , blinds, hinges , drawer knobs , tools , power tools , nuts and bolts ect... all nicely displayed... kinda like the equivalent of a hi-mart except hardware store version.

Not sure what the name is. DOnt think its a chain but i could be wrong. YOu just have to look in the right place. Usually go where all the repair men go. Theres going to be blocks and a bunch of streets that all have hardware , wood , bricks concrete for sale ect.. much like how theres a motorcycle street, wedding street , pet street..etc.. theres a hardware / construction street... At least here in daejeon there is..

Reason i was there: My father in law is apt renovation man. he brought me a to a few to buy supplies for apt renovation/upgrades. They exists
