|
|
I was wondering if anyone know of any good resources that I could use to place kids in different levels. I've been winging it and it has been ok, but I'm looking for a recognized test that is reliable and valid...and hopefully free.
Thanks for any help |

It's hard to answer that without knowing what the levels are. Are you trying to find out which class/book to assign a child to? Or are you trying to find a book/teaching material for a group of children with similar abilities? |

Thanks for the reply.
It's standard hagwon situation. Bunch of kids of different levels and I want to separate them into classes roughly as low-beginner, beginner, intermediate, high-intermediate. Looking for a tool that will test listening, speaking, reading and give some reliable and valid indication of general English level. |

You should be able to find some copies of the Cambridge YLE practice tests that you can download. They have 3 levels (starters, movers and flyers) and you can further subdivide each level to accurately give you 6 levels.
If you want originals you should be able to get them for about 15k-20k won per level (test book, keys and CDs).

If you can't find them, let me know and I will rip/scan a set for you.

Thanks a lot. I've been checking around on some of the forums. I don't think I found the exact tests you mentioned, but there were some that might suit my purposes. |
