I'm doing a visa run at the end of the month and I'll be heading to Osaka for a few days.

Anybody know much about night life? Things that are must see?

Also, my company is only footing part of the bill for my accommodation (2 nights), so if anyone knows of some reasonably priced places to stay that would also be good.

I skimmed hostelbookers but most of them seemed to be dormitory style and that is no-beuno.

Thanks

- Curtis

I'd personally budget one day for Osaka, and three for Kyoto, which is a quick train ride away.

Drinking is cool in Japan, but unfortunately the clubs have been hit badly over the past year. They've started enforcing a RIDICULOUS law which actually bans dancing in clubs. It's literally to the point that they cover the dancefloor in tables to discourage it. You can still dance in karaoke rooms though Razz

You should go to Kobe.
For drinking, Umeda isn't bad.

For hotels, I recommend Super Hotel in Kobe which is between Sannomiya and Shin-Kobe station.
In Osaka I stayed at the Hankyu Umeda hotel, which didn't cost so much.

For Kyoto the White Hotel is reasonable and is not far from Kyoto Station.
It may still be listed in Lonely Planet.
It has tatami floors and futons.

In Kyoto you can find cheaper places but that means you have to share the bathroom and toilet with other guests. In Osaka the same is true.
