If you just want a big city and are not set on Seoul... I don't think you would have any trouble getting a position in Daegu, where I currently live, with those qualifications! It is a great place to live and there is a great expat scene here. I know Seoul and Busan can be more competitive, and a lot of people end up living on the outskirts of town, which didn't appeal to me when I was applying.

If you would like some recruiter recommendations or a few schools that are trustworthy - pay on time, fair directors, fair contracts, send me a private message. I work for a hagwon, and know that people can be nervous going in blind, since EPIK is more regulated.. but there are lots of good hagwons, you just have to make sure you get information on it from someone who has worked there. Let me know if I can help!

I am worried about being screwed over and uncomfortable with sending my original degree off too.

You don't send your original degree anywhere.

You get a "certified true copy" made and have an apostille affixed to that.
Scan it.
Send the scan of that and the scan of your police check with your Application.

You send the original COPIES (with apostilles affixed) when you finally have a contract in hand and have signed on the dotted line. They are needed by immigration at that point for the visa confirmation application.

NEVER give anyone your original parchment to anyone. They don't need it.

.

Is this the exact same procedue for teachers who are already in Korea looking for their next line of work?

for a new visa = yes.
For a transfer or change to a D10 = no.
