Hello,
I am new to the University Summer Camp scene, and I was wondering about something. Do you think 20,000/hr for a month-long camp is too low? There are like 8 classes a day too. Anyone done that before?
Thanks in advance,
Babo |

Depends, what do you have to do?
I think your thinking is wrong though. It's not the number of classes per day, but the workload in total. A 6 class schedule could be more enduring. |

Hi,
Well, we have to prepare ALL of the materials for Resume-Writing, Interview Skill and Conversation for the whole month. And one night a week we have to do some counseling. |

Looks like it could be 3.2 for a month. Doesn't sound too bad. How much were you expecting? |

Not sure, I guess I was just wondering if it was good pay for the amount of classes, prep, etc.. |

There is no way to ultimately judge that. What you have described on paper could amount to a lot or a little bit of work. Doing 4 classes and then 4 classes is not nearly as bad as doing 2 classes, something else, 2 more classes, something else, 4 classes, etc...
So, I would need to see a sample schedule of exactly what they wanted me to do. If I was really getting paid 3.2, I definitely wouldn't be asking for more work during the hottest months of the year. You might thrive on it though, so I doubt anyone can give you a decisive yes or no to this.
Is there any problem you see in trying it the first month and then quitting if it doesn't go as you hoped? What's the penalty? Of course they will be out a teacher, but possibly other teachers might want to do it since it is hourly based. |
