ESL Teachers should boycott South Korea considering it treats Westerners like dirt. That won't happen though because people need to work and we are all driven by greed. However, I became a teacher because I am passionate about education, educating, knowledge acquisition and human developement.

Uh-oh. A US firm (some people here are pretty sensitive about any slight by the US, whether it's the government, military, or anyone) on the wrong side of a Dokdo argument? If Apple doesn't change their operating system, Apple might face some protests.

My observation is that the hands are washed before, not after evacuation. Doesn't matter if #1 or #2, and definitely not after #3. I can see some personal advantage to this but yeah, learn to bow.

I wonder if Japanese people are as sensitive about the Dokdo/Takeshima issue.

For all the bluster and anger about the Samsung-Apple fight, Koreans will never give up there I-Phones because they are better and because of the chic factor. Owning an I-phone means you are better than everyone else who doesn't have one. Seriously, having a Samsung Galaxy caused my wife a lot of embarrassment when a lot of the other mothers she knows had I-phones so I finally let her get one.

Same goes for cars. Korean are proud of their Hyundai-Kia's but anyone with the means will buy a foreign car to show that they are above everyone who can't get one.

So if YOU are not driven by greed...why are YOU teaching in South Korea?

Gotta love how you say WE are all driven by greed...but in the very next breath put yourself above the rest of us by clarifying your reasons are more pure-minded.

not at all. i just got back from japan for my 4 times a year trip to hang and stuff, and the few times i talked to people about it, they all uniformly rolled their eyes.

now, japanese are as clicqy as the locals. Probably due to the awesome stuff they have there....sigh

Dokdo is such a pathetic issue. I noticed today the big map on the wall of the English room has Dokdo labelled (why?) and is in the 'Sea of East'

You know I just found out recently that Dokdo is closer to the Japanese mainland than it is to the Korean mainland.

It's probably better not to dwell on these things, especially while any Koreans are around.

And the Falkland Islands are closer to Argentina than they are to the UK. So what's your point?
