Flew back on Delta and it was total crap.
No power outlet for my computer.
Service was terrible.
Chairs were uncomfortable.
Entertainment was terrible. |

That said, my very best air travel experience was years ago on Cathay Pacific. I don't even know whether they're still in operation, but that was awesome. |
Still alive and well in HK.
I flew Korean Air a couple weeks ago to the States and back, and service has really gone down hill. They used to serve meals in real china (even in economy), not plastic microwaveable packs. And their amenity kit sucks. I remember Asiana gives you an eyemask instead of a pair of paper slippers. The AVOD hardware's great but it's wasted because they don't have anything on it.
These days I just fly foreign carriers and fly Asiana or Korean if I'm redeeming frequent flyer miles. I'm trying to get lifetime Diamond Plus on Asiana Club (half a million miles or 1000 flights on Asiana I think...65k and counting!), and once I have that, I'll have star alliance gold status FOREVER (this means lounge access, extra baggage, priority check-in and all sorts of little perks that make air travel slightly less miserable) and then I'll get to accrue miles on a frequent flyer program that has better redemption rates. |

If I'm paying 1k for a ticket, I expect these SIMPLE things.
Flying over on Singapore Air is a dream. They do everything Delta doesn't. |

you're looking at around 5k for this service, not 1k. i know of no economy class plane that has ac power outlets for laptops on any carrier regional or domestic.
that said, i don't know if said outlet is really work 4k more, but business sure is nice to be in. |

Virgin America has ac power outlets
Unfortunately it serves just the USA and one or two spots in Mexico. |

Pretty positive Singapore Air had one both times I flew with them.
Singapore Air is 10x's better than Delta. |

Right. For 1K you can expect to get there alive and more or less on time. Everything else is gravy. |

I don't know why you guys expect mediocrity with your flights. Even in coach, when I was on Singapore Air it was exceptional. All my flights were on time, meals were great, entertainment was more than adequate, seats/spacing was wonderful, and the flight attendants were attractive.
Delta:
Food crap[x]
Entertainment insufficient[x]
Uncomfortable seating[x]
Unattractive flight attendants[x]
Made it to my destination[x] <----- The only positive.
Why are so staunchly defending Delta? You're acting like you have some personal investment in them. Look at the feedback thus far, it's about 50/50. All I was stating was that when I used them, they were shit. The two times I flew on Singapore Air, they were far superior.
'European and Asian carriers are more generous about providing electrical power, Daimler says, noting Cathay Pacific has outlets at all seats.'
'U.S. carriers stingy'
All I'm saying is that even if you take away the fact that they don't provide outlets, they're still not terribly good.

oh don't worry, i don't expect mediocrity with my flights. i avoid any american carrier like the plague and the budget carriers even more talk about some awful flight experiences. if i wanted chubby people who cared less about what i actually wanted serve me mediocre food, i'd just go to an ihop.
asiana/singapore/korean/ana are the best carriers in my personal opinion. cathay wins a lot of awards but i still rank them much further down than those three. plus at the risk of sounding a bit racist although it's not meant to be and it's not technically the fault of cathay, but flying with a plane full of chinese people has been on almost every single occasion for me extremely awful and makes me avoid cathay and other chinese airlines as much as possible. |

Unfortunately Asiana/Korean aren't much better in that respect...not only do they fly a lot of Chinese people through Incheon but Koreans aren't exactly known for having the best manners either. |
