I play it by ear Twisted Evil Laughing Twisted Evil literally Exclamation

If a student is just so totally tired they are in serious la la land I let them snooze. BUT Twisted Evil

If a student just puts his head down and closes his eyes its the 'WET WILLY' treatment. You know how Koreans think anything to do with the mouth is dirty Question I stick a finger in my mouth, sneak up on the poor unsuspecting student stick it in his ear and rotate Laughing Since this phenomonem does not exist in Korea it is quite the shock. Needless to say I have only had to do it once in any class Exclamation usually just making the gesture is enough to alert the students.

The other students either start laughing uproariously or grab the offender and save him/her Laughing

A great way to break up a dull day Exclamation

If the students are well-behaved and polite enough to ask if they can eat and sleep and if they clearly need it then I'd say it's better to have them refreshed and able to take in more than struggling to keep their eyes open. If they think eating and sleeping means it's party time in class then no way.

I don't see how you can allow food in class, even when you know how hungry the kids are. It's a distraction for everyone and they figure that if you're soft on that, then they can push you in other ways too.

I don't see how you can expect hungry children to learn anything from you. It's part of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs.

Well, the kids may like you for it. The mums and the boss are the ones you have to please though. In hagwons, kids are a distant consideration compared to keeping the cash flowing. Basically, unless you lose kids, dont worry about it

Yes, it's so true. I think that it is very kind of half-pint to allow the children to eat in class. You know that many of these children have no lives but in the end it comes to down to the almighty won as beckerson says. Furthermore, you want to keep complaints from the Ajumas to a minimum so be vigilant.
