Hi,

I'm planning to begin work in Ulsan next week, and I've had a nasty suprise that it looks like I'm going to have to grab a flight from London Heathrow towards Incheon International, change to Gimpo International and then grab a flight towards Ulsan.

I will have three hours to move from Incheon to Gimpo.

Has anyone done this? Can anyone suggest a better way of getting to Ulsan? I've looked at flying to Busan and getting a train but I would still need to do this airport change.

FP.

The subway line at Incheon will stop along the way at Gimpo.

Or take a cab. The toll road between the two airports really only exists to connect Incheon Airport to Seoul, so there's not really ever much traffic.

Done it dozens of times, the end destination being Ulsan, dont take a cab as they are a huge rip off. Either take the arex (airport line, like a subway) or if you have lots of luggage a bus (go to information and they will tell you which door to take). There are busses direct to Ulsan but only 3 a day and they take 5-6 hours.

For Ulsan info check out ulsanonline.com if you havent already.

you can take the ICN airport subway to Seoul station and than take the KTX to Ulsan. KTX cost is about 45,000 won. Takes 1 and 1/2 hours. (My numbers are close, don't remember the specifics.)

KTX is the high speed rail BTW.

PM me if you need help getting to your Ulsan location from the KTX station. The station is in the outskirts of Ulsan. Maybe post the exact neighborhood you are working in and I will tell you what bus to catch. The bus only costs 3,500 won.

My husband and I just did this a month ago. Way easy to get from Incheon to Gimpo. We took the bus and I think if I recall someone had mentioned that the bus area is closer than the AREX line or whatever. It was really easy to get to and quick. No issues with lots of luggage either, they were quick to stow it under the bus and we had like 6 suitcases between the two of us.

I wouldn't recommend the ktx route for someone new to Korea. It's a pain to navigate the busses if you don't know the city. I'm assuming your boss is meeting you at the airport? They could meet you at the ktx station instead but honestly it's much simpler to just transfer between the two airports by bus or train.

Thanks people, I hope I never take these forums for granted.

I ended up taking the same flight but slightly earlier so I've got about 4 hours to make the change, I'll just play it by ear.

Should be no problem. Take a Korean Air Lines transfer bus. I think it is easiest, and pretty comfortable. Takes about 40 minutes. I think it costs 5000 won.
