In April I passed an EPIK interview and started getting all my documents together. In mid-May I sent my completed application along with all the other hard-copy documents to EPIK. It has been more than a month and I still haven't heard anything back from them. Is it normal to wait this long or can I assume that I probably won't get a job offer. If anyone could shed any light on this situation I would be most grateful.

Why don't you call them or chase them up? Why wait around with your finger in a not so nice place?

It's normal to take long to hear back from EPIK . I was part of a Facebook group for the March 2012 intake and people were agonizing over how long it was taking to hear back from EPIK.

In the end, I DIDN'T get a placement , despite passing the interview , being well qualified (probably OVER-qualified) and sending in my documents in a timely manner.

If I remember correctly, my documents were sent in first week of December & I didn't hear from my recruiter until mid January that I didn't get placed.

Oh! THAT's another factor. You MAY hear quicker if you apply directly to EPIK instead of thru a recruiter. I believe that was the case for a lot of people.

My advice: get backup documents, just in case. You'll be thankful you did. I know I am.

Good luck to you.

The same thing happened with my girlfriend and I, except we ended up getting placed in April. My recruiter waited until the end of January to tell us we hadn't got placed for February (even though I asked several times and by then had figured it out).

my first year with SMOE I had applied in early May and then forgot all about it.

I was called in the end of July; so that's a good 2 months.

you should be looking for other positions anyway - you are, right? Confused

I sent my documents off in mid-April and only just heard that I'd been placed earlier today. If the group I'm in on facebook is any indication very few people have heard yet, so I wouldn't be too worried.

Just this morning I got an email saying that I had been offered a position in Daegu. I was looking for other jobs but I am glad that this one worked out. I applied directly to EPIK and it took 1 month and 2 days to receive an offer from the time they received my documents. During that month I emailed my EPIK coordinator several times and he was really good about getting back to me and giving me updates. Hopefully those of you that are waiting for an offer will hear something soon.
