| I am in a situation where I will need to pursue money owed to me after I have left Korea. Has anyone had the experience, or know the process of assigning a Korean to act on your behalf (I'm not a lawyer of course, but something along the lines of 'power of attorney')? |

It depends on the avenue of pursuit.
If you mean assign someone to act as your agent in a labor board claim/tribunal then yes. It just takes a letter of appointment (properly signed and witnessed). You also have to realize that whatever they do on your behalf and whatever judgement is obtained is binding on you and the board will not accept a further claim on the same matter.
If you mean in a courtroom then you need a lawyer to act on your behalf if you cannot attend in person.

You are correct in that I need someone to act on my behalf for a labor board claim (my employer has indicated he would not pay a severance). I am going to submit my claim/form to the labor myself, but I will not be around to see the entire process through.
The 'letter of appointment' that you speak of, do you have/know of any information about how to obtain this properly. |

Simple letter to the labor office indicating the person you designate (name, ID#, address, phone) to act as your agent in the matter.
Give it in at the same time as you file your claim.
Done like dinner.
