Where would one find the registry office (등기소) ??

Is that the big building by the crown hotel ?
cheers

You should also take your lease agreement to the local registry office (등기소) to get a Hwak-jeong-il-ja (확정일자 ). This is an official record of the deposit money you have put down, and establishes your priority for getting your money back should the property go to public auction.

I'm not in Yongsan, but last time I got a new lease I asked at the desk where I registered my change of address (in my case, city hall, in yours, maybe your dong office) where to go. They handed over a printed map.

Foreigners have a different protocol for registering lease deposits than locals do. You need to go to your local supreme court office. Sounds daunting but its easy.

wow first I've heard of that - was always just the dong office. is this in addition to or the only place?
