Is that the microhone thing that pops up? I have a used Galaxy phone and Kakao Talk, and there's some microphone function. I haven't tried it, really. I don't use my phone for many calls because I don't get that many minutes with SK. That's why I kakao talk a lot. I choose certain days where I talk for a little extra time on the phone, so I won't go over.

I followed the instructions above on my iPhone and it worked, but it also reset my kakao. I kept most of my contacts (the ones tied to phone numbers in Korea, but not the international ones by username), but I lost all of my chat history and was knocked out of my group chats. I haven't tried using the free voice calls yet so I don't know how well they work. Just a warning if you try to do it on iPhone. When my coworker asked if I got a new phone because my kakao had been reset and I told her what happened, she said, oh yes, iPhone. Not sure if it's just an iPhone issue, but that's what she thought.

For free calls to landlines, I use the Oto app. It's been great for calling home. At this stage, given my time again, I wouldn't bother with doing it for Kakao, but maybe my opinion will change after I've started using it.

just enabled it yesterday and the voip wasn't bad with one exception...

how do you turn off the voice filter? its either this chipmunky "alien" voice or some "demonic" voice. it'll be pretty obnoxious once the novelty runs out. atm, i can't really use it because I'm laughing my ass off during 80% of the conversation
