This article may help explain the local claims of unsafe American beef. I have been here long enough to realize that such claims are usually in response to unsatisfactory claims made against South Korea.

US consumers were first warned to stop consuming Korean shellfish on 1 May.

After conducting a comprehensive evaluation, the agency found that the Korean Shellfish Sanitation Programme (KSSP) no longer meets the sanitation controls of the National Shellfish Sanitation Programme. The FDA then removed all Korean certified shippers of molluscan shellfish from the Interstate Certified Shellfish Shippers List (ICSSL).

Sure, the seas are more polluted over there due to industrial run off. The mackeral there is dark and unusually stinky and foul tasting compared to that clean white meat mackeral we get in the US from the coasts of South America. I noticed every time the fresh seafood to be, "dirty," and unpleasant tasting. Too bad, because the sea bass look so good and should be good white meat.

Right, because Koreans became upset at an infected cow discovered in April because then yet unknown ban on local shellfish. Too bad they didn't ban red herrings, too.

Mackeral is not a shellfish.
