|
|
I'm at a public high school. Summer camp is next month and my co teacher asked me to do some kind of sports activity for a day. That's kind of a problem for me since I haven't played any sports since elementary school, and don't even watch sports on tv, so I have no idea what to do. I'm not out of shape, I've been doing martial arts for about 14 years, I just don't play any sports. My co teacher seems to want some kind of team sport. So I need to think of something easy to organize, and not too embarrassing for me if I have to participate (so basketball is out ).
Any suggestions? |

How about Kickball? It is like baseball but you kick the ball. It is easy for all to play and the kids seem to really enjoy it.
Anyways I thought that I would throw my two cents in.

Ice hockey, curling, and luge could be suitable.
... seriously tho ...
Being the "olympic year" you could study some olympic events and use the vocabulary of a sport to springboard into the rules, then (depending on the sport) go outside to practice / train in the event. |

Korean students all do the tug-a-war in their sports activities at school - that's fun and they all like it. it's good because it doesn't matter how big or strong a kid is, they all pull together.
you just need a rope of course. |

Ultimate frisbee is a good idea, if you can get hold of one. Non-contact, skillful and fun. But not for kids who are too young.
Once, I played netball with kids at a camp, and it worked brilliantly. Unlike basketball, you won't have one or two players dominate everything and everyone else standing around, because players are restricted to certain zones of the court that they can't leave. They have to stop when they get the ball, and have three seconds to make a pass. Great fun for beginners. |
