If such lists exist, I don't believe any hagwon would want to share the info outside their own school. In such a highly cut throat competitive field, they would hope that another school hires the misfit, and goes through the same 'trouble' I'll always remember when I asked the parents of new students why they transferred over to our school, responses always related to not liking the teacher(s), etc. |

I'm not getting many replies back from recruiters, I want to teach in Busan but recruiters keep sending me jobs in other cities or a bit far out from where I would like to be saying it's the best you'll get. I don't know whether that is true or not or they just trying to fill a position. I've turned down job offers because I wasn't completely happy with it, apparently recruiters don't like that. I applied for another job but got an email back saying that I have been blacklisted for not responding. This is untrue because I have always let the school know my decision and reason. The recruiter won't give me any information and when I try and find out why this has happened they don't reply back. I really don't know what to think. I still want to get to Korea but wondering if this is going to ruin my chances.
Any thoughts? |

It won't affect your chances of finding a job other than excluding that particular recruiter from the potential job offers.
If you want, you could always take the recruiter to court for being involved in job blacklisting (assuming that the job you turned down was offered though another agency). Good luck with that though. |

| I always get the feeling that you're nothing but a piece of meat at a Hagwon. We have a black guy working in Saudi Arabia that's sharp as hell verbally. He was fired from a Hogwan in Korea. I worked at a public school in Korea and it was hectic as hell, but I always got treated with some appreciation and there was a lot of professionalism. |

Because hogwons are often run by low-class people with zero educational background.
And the E2 human-trafficking visa encourages them to abuse and exploit. |

Yes, they get away with a lot because they control the teacher's visa. And if they want to get out, they need a "release letter" what a bunch of garbage. You are not a slave. The E-2 visa is ridiculous. Same with the endless drugs/hiv checks that are done ONLY for foreign English teachers. Not SE Asian bar girls, not Nigerian pimps. They're cool. Just Western, college educated teachers.
Makes one think how hungover the ajossi must have been who made these regulations. |

Not hungover.. just projecting his typical jealousy and insecurity onto western males.
Co*kblocking enshrined into national policy. |
