Does anyone know when a recruiter receives their commission (generally)?
Also, are there usually terms in their contract with the school that penalize the recruiter if the teacher pulls a midnight run within a certain time?
For example, a recruiter and school contract, recruiter finds able and willing teacher, teacher is flown to Korea, teacher bails and leaves the country 4 weeks thereafter. Will the recruiter lose their finders fee or any portion of it?
*I am asking generally. I am very aware that each situation is dependent on the agreed upon terms of the school and recruiter. |

Typically the recruiter needs to find a replacement (at no expense to the school) if the teacher bails within a certain period (varies from 3-6 months).
Time to payment varies from 15-90 days after the teacher arrives at the school. |

That sounds about like what I've heard as well.
I've also heard that even if the teacher bails, the recruiters generally don't give back any money they've received from the school. Some get paid a lump sum while others get paid in installments over a few months. Particularly in those cases where they paid in installments then it's to the recruiters advantage to encourage you to stay at the school (at least for a while longer) to ensure that they actually get paid.
In case you're wondering, they get paid anywhere from 1 million Won per teacher and upwards. 1.5 million is not uncommon. |
