Hello,
Last year we taught at a summer camp, and had arranged with to work again with the same organisation this summer, unfortunately the camp has had to cancel last minute. Contracts have been signed since April, C4 visas applied for and flights to korea from Australia booked.

What are the chances of the camp giving us some compensation?!

Unless there is some clause in your contract to allow you to pursue it as a civil matter (based on their cancellation of the camp) your chances are "0".

If if there was some possibility to pursue it you might be throwing good money after bad trying to get blood out of a stone.

Do you already have the visa? If so, ask at the Korean embassy whether you'll need to return home to do an interview in order to get an E2 visa. If not, then since you already have the flight, you might as well come and look for a job here. Then get the visa in Japan. If you're lucky immigration might let you transfer your C4 visa directly to an E2. If you're not looking for airfare, you can negotiate a higher salary or shorter contract, or something else.
