I recently rescued five puppies and their mum from a kill shelter. They have had no luck, because they all have distemper. A highly contagious and fatal dog disease.
They have all received treatment and are doing really well, but they need to stay in quarantine (no contact with other dogs and to stay confined within your apartment-if you touch them you need to disenfect your hands and change your clothes before coming into contact with another dog) until they are tested again for the disease in 3weeks time. If the test is negative they only need to stay in quarantine for one more month and then they are no longer contagious. After this I can find them permanent homes, but for several reasons I can't keep them in my flat (I also have my own dog and cannot expose her to this disease).
I am fundraising for their survival and through generous donations have paid for their treatment and for them to board at a vet clinic until next saturday. However after next saturday they need to be in foster or adoptive care. Being in a vet clinic and kept in a quarantine room is quite stressful for them and the vet feels that a home environment is the best thing for their health. If you dont have a pet and would like to help out by taking in even one of these adorable puppies or their very affectionate mum please check out their profiles on the ARK website:

Thank you for looking and please share with people you know as these guys really need to find homes asap. The puppies are weaned and so can safely be separated from the mum, so if you can just take one or two that would be great. I will be available to give you help and advice on the disease and on raising a puppy, and I will take the responsibility of finding them forever homes. |
