it's about an American woman who accompanies her bf to Tokyo, they split up and then she freaks out and decides to become a ramen chef.

I really liked it and thought the narrative intertwined American and Japanese culture really well.

anyone else see it?

Haven't seen it, but I know the one. Brittany Murphy, right?

Remember seeing the trailer a couple years ago; will have to check it out.

Dude, she's asking about the movie because Brittany Murphy starred in it, not because it's about ramen.

actually, it wasn't about either - but the intricate weaving of 2 cultures and how they intertwined between male and female, generation and generation, around language, food and communication.

I thought this was a brilliant story but the audience who would actually understand it is probably quite small considering how few Westerners have actually lived in Asia overall. Then add onto that those who would even accept Abby's character and how she persisted, well, it's just an incredible film that was very well done IMO.

Yes, but Brittany Murphy being in it makes it more appealing, right? Very Happy
