Found my passport after having thought it was lost for years.... yay
I look at the first page... I completely forgot that it has a place where it states place of birth... I wasn't born in the US.
I know that this is a very silly question... but will this ruin my chances at getting a public school gig (or even private school gig)? |

Does it list the country or just the city name? IF city name then non-issue.
As long as you have a US passport, US degree (and as a backup if asked a US high school diploma) you are fine. You meet the criteria for an E2.
I am sure you had another thread about this same issue earlier.
Not a native speaker, but still want to teach in Korea

Were you hoping for a different answer?

The the answer is still the same as they were in your previous thread.
Us citizen, US passport, US degree (US high school cert ONLY if they ask for it), US FBI check.
Do NOT volunteer anything or confuse them with extra facts.
You will be fine. |

I was born in Pakistan and moved to Canada when I was 8. My passport clearly says that I was born in Lahore, Pakistan, which is mostly a problem when I travel to certain countries, like the United States or China. In terms of getting an E2 visa, a consular officer once tried to get me to bring middle school report cards to prove that I had attended school in Canada for a certain number of years (I forget the exact number), but dropped the request when I couldn't find them.
I imagine, though, that this rule might be more strictly enforced when dealing with ethnic Koreans who have acquired foreign citizenship. |
