Where did the thread from yesterday go?

Was it just hearsay or was there a link to the story.

According to police, from December of last year until his arrest, J sold in total some 90 grams (3.17 ounces) of marijuana to acquaintances he had made working as an English lecturer at a language academy in Yongin, Gyeonggi. He sold the marijuana at 100,000 to 150,000 won per gram, mostly at clubs in the Gangnam and Hongdae areas.

Two distributors and eight other foreigners who purchased marijuana were booked without detention, said the police. Of those who bought the drugs was a 28-year-old American female college professor.

A 26-year-old female Korean-American graduate student surnamed Baek and a 48-year-old man surnamed Kim, who runs a band practice room near the Hongik University area, served as middlemen and allegedly helped J distribute the illegal drugs in Seoul and Gyeonggi.

He wasn't a public school teacher at an elementary school.

Good question. I was looking for that thread this AM after people had posted in the thread - gone. Shocked

Just a question to clarify I guess - is there a board policy about discussing drugs or drug related issues?

I honestly think if you're going to be involved in drugs somehow, just do it at the privacy of your home. Don't sell it and don't tell people about it because someone's gonna rat you out.

The thread disappeared because the discussion turned towards personal feelings on drug use. That type of discussion is not welcome on an educational-oriented message board. If this thread follows that lead, it will disappear as well.

Every single time someone gets arrested for this, it turns into a battle of people saying legalize it and free them vs. people who saying good they deserve it for being dumb.

Not sure where else such topic would turn to. Although I'm personally more interested in how they got caught. I find it difficult to imagine anyother way other than someone snitching on them.

Except everyone said they were being dumb.

Guy took a risk and got caught.

Maybe he'll realize he could be doing better things with his time.

Prices reflect risk, I would think. At the same time, it says they could get up to give years in prison, which seems a bit disproportionate when basic possession can get you a couple years. Compare that with the States, where basic possession is usually a slap on the wrist, and dealing will often result in real time. Perhaps it's not strictly risk.

ya...coughed up a fur ball on that, too.
Meouch...who would pay that....for a gram? A gram stateside = $10-15

At that price...one can see some temptation for those who try to sell it.
Then again...probably the media is just jacking the figures up to make it look more sensational than it really is.

But ya...the risk is a wicked high...literally.

Instead of making threads disappear, can't mods just lock it and explain why it was locked? That way people know what behavior is appropriate and what is not. Otherwise, you end up with people simply scratching their heads as to what happened to threads and going on with business as usual. This in turn creates more work for mods, engenders negative feelings towards the site for being so mysterious and arbitrary, and does not encourage people to learn from their mistakes.
