Compared to USD and how it's been in the last year or so?
Kind of need to send money home for something... if the WON isn't totally awful, may do it today. |

It's doing better than the last couple of weeks (was stuck at 1160-1170) and clocking in at around 1140. Still not all that great. |

It's below 1140 this pm and heading in the right direction.
I believe the average for the Won over the last 5 years is about 1130 so we're looking at a reasonable point in terms of the average. If you want to reduce risk coming into the next few months there have been worse times to convert. |

The won closed at 1,135 Thursday and it should get better barring another round of bad news from the eurozone.
A lot can happen between now and the December presidential election in Korea so it should be interesting how the won will be affected by this. |

Agree. I think unless you've got a real need to transfer $ at the moment and/or any bad headlines out of Europe this is a good time to hold on a bit more.....
May see a bump in the wrong direction Friday (US) as I think they release job numbers for June. We'll see right? |

I exchanged some KRW to USD today @ 1141. The amount I exchanged is about 20% of total that I ultimately want in dollars. Since it's impossible to predict the change in exchange rates, my strategy is to dollar cost average (so to speak) out of the Won in multiple transactions over the next 5~6 months. |

It's not a bad way to go. I'm probably going to bite my nails until the next payday on the 24th and then send a batch out.
Ultimately, I don't think the Euro problems are fixed but I'm willing to gamble a little bit over the next few weeks. |

I just changed 2 million won into dollars today, and got $1,720 after the $30 bank fee. It was far cheaper than wiring it home, where I pay about $40 here and $40 at home. During the year, of course, I just wire it, but, as I'm heading home for my first trip in years, I'll just carry the cash and deposit it into my account once home. |
