One of the biggest problems was that the new 'guidelines' (that should actually be 'rules') was that it was introduced in typically slapdash Korean style halfway through a semester, so the students haven't had time to acclimatise. [/quote]

Exactly. How about being told about it the day before the grade input deadline, AFTER having already shown students their points and grades, AND giving professors the wrong percentages anyway, only to be told the correct percentages after the grade input deadlines. Nice!

And these weren't guidelines, these were rules, as the computer wouldn't even accept any grades over the allotted percentages. But the original percentages told to the professors were smaller than the real guidelines, so many students had their grades dropped unnecessarily anyway.

So far, only had one student contact me, asking to be moved from a B to a B+ for the sake of his scholarship. Now, I could do this because it wouldn't affect any other student's grade, and it doesn't mess with the relative grading system.....but of course I politely told him that he should have tried a little bit harder during the actual assessments, and good luck for next semester. Smile

It wouldn't affect anyone else's grade, but it would affect someone else's scholarship. If this guy gets the scholarship then some other student somewhere does NOT get one.

Too true. Well, unless he had luck with some other professor, he remains scholarship-less.

He also remains the only student to have contacted me. I think that's some sort of record for me. Usually I get at least three or four.
