Sing with the Camarata Music Companys Chorale in their late summer/early autumn concert! Based on music from musicals and movies, it is bound to be a great time!
Rehearsals begin on Sunday, July 29 at the CMC Studio in Haebangchon. All new people are asked to come at 3:00, and all returning members of the choir are asked to come at 3:45.
A variety of music will be sung for the September 8 concert, including music from the Lord of the Rings, O Brother Where Art Thou, popular cartoons and TV shows, Wicked, Rent, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Charlie Brown, Oklahoma, and much more! Also, there will be opportunities for choir members to sing solos and small ensembles from musicals and movies. It will be a great, lighthearted, and fun concert!
Following this concert, CMC Chorale will begin its preparations for its annual Messiah concert around Christmas time, and we would love to have everyone involved for that as well, if they wish.
No experience is necessary. The choir is comprised of a variety of singers, from those that have degrees in music, to those whose experience is limited to singing in the shower. The only requirement is that you are willing to work hard, and that you can hold a pitch. It is a great time, and a great way to meet new people!
If you are interested in joining, please contact us by emailing [email protected] or [email protected]. You can also call 010-9806-8655. We look forward to hearing you soon!
The Camarata Music Company is a non-profit organization that provides an opportunity for people, both Korean and foreigners, to perform beautiful classical music together. With the lack of performance opportunities within Korea, we aim to provide an avenue for classical musicians to perform, hone in on their musical technique, build repertoire, and perform. With members from many nationalities (currently 26 different nationalities), we hope to bring many different experiences from people of many different cultures. We also wish to provide more opportunities for the public to hear classical performances, and experience collaborative performances of people from many different nationalities.
The CMC Chorale performs 3 major concerts every year, building up to our large Christmas concert of Handel's Messiah.
We take a step further than the standard repertoire in Korea, and work to perform other works that may not be as popular or mainstream in Korea, even if they are elsewhere. We also perform the classics, offering a variety of music, genres, languages and styles, from Latin masses, oratorio, opera and operetta, musical theatre, and secular classical.
Outreach Vision - CMC believes that music is something that should be shared with everyone, no matter what their situation, especially children. So, it is the vision of CMC to establish a music program in local orphanages and low-income areas. One of the ultimate goals of this project is to create a children's choir and orchestra, provide lessons free of charge (in English and Korean), purchase musical instruments for children who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford them, and to provide high-quality performances that are accessible to all.
