dare I say that you are not standing on principle at all - you have a contract which you are trying to break and offering abstract reasons for doing so. is your boss being a hard case for not giving up - in her mind, she's the one standing on principle.
jees get over yourself already. let it go. you have a future ahead of you, a good one if you can just grow up and show some maturity. since they know how bad you want to leave you'll be lucky they don't fire your butt - then where would you be? you won't be able to stick around and file a labor board complaint - you'll just be kissing your severance good bye and maybe other pay as well |

| I agree with Ttmompatz's original post. It is 4 days... can your graduate school in the US let you come 4 days later? Maybe they could work with you and get you some readings to do while you're waiting to return. |

Your petition was kind of pointless from the get-go anyway. Nitpicky & self-serving.
Supervisors here have limited power (VP's and principals outweigh them & they're all wary of audits). If the bean-counters determine they've superseded their authority, they face consequences.
Contract details fall into that category. You signed on to a deal that is fairly rigid in its conditions. You really dont qualify, by your own admission, for the exceptions. Exact completion of the contract, to qualify for end-benefits, is a biggie.
The system can be reasonable. My province started letting departing teachers use accrued vacation days to leave Korea early, without forfeit, as long as there wasnt a shortfall of even one day. That policy seems to meet the letter of the law. Even then, though, its up to the permission of the school principal, like a favor, & up to local policy.
I've also known people who gave up millions of won for leaving a couple days too early.
Rules is rules. Best wishes. |
