Yes but this is illegal. An unscrupulous employer could use this to his/her advantage to manipulate you into working illegally. Be very careful if you do this.


True. If you do decide on that route (i.e. you're going to work under the table and have no intention of getting a visa at that particular school) then don't show them your passport and consider an alias. Most of the ones that will pay you in hand at the end of the week won't care about your details anyway because they're not registering you.

Good point. I also should have made it clear I meant going that route as just an emergency option if you needed to make enough money to get a ticket home...

I don't recommend going the illegal route. I don't care much for people who come over to Korea with breaking the law in mind first of all. 2nd, you open yourself up to more and more frequent abuse by employers who have already shown they are willing to bend the rules.

You also open yourself up to being turned in by Koreans you teach or meet or parents...

But, if worse comes to worse, that is a way to get enough money to get home...
