I contacted this seller as well, but had an email from someone called 'Jim Francisco' and a gmail account. He was apparently living in Busan and needed money for an air ticket ASAP

I contacted him last week as he was selling a Canon 5D Mark II, A 24-70mm f2.8 L lens, a flash, and a battery grip all for the insane price of 1.8m!!! He said he would sell it that day, but he said he'd 'reserve' it for me for 300,000 Cool

A couple of days later, I saw another ad just selling the camera for 1.5m as he'd sold the other gear. I guess you got scammed with that, JT?

That blows, but remember the ol 'caveat emptor'people! Rolling Eyes

Yes, that's the one I fall for. I saw it about 10 minutes after it come up. I send him an email that I will meet him in Busan in 3 hrs to pick it up, for that price I would go to Pyongyang. Silence, two days later, he is only selling the cam but still very cheap. So I send another mail and 1.5 mln. won later here I am. I guess he was trying to collect as much people as possible and left us hanging. Well he did nice job on me and I am doing shopping online for over 10 yrs. What tricked me was that he was willing to meet, pretty bold considering that he had nothing to sell. I was hesitant, as he had no phone and rerouted email account, but the greed took better of me.

Is this the same guy who's name has been spread all over various Facebook pages for "renting" a ton of film equipment and then not returning it?

Alas,
This could be end of days for Darth Shoes. Sounds like he's been here too long and has now clearly gone mad. To leave that much evidence around. I thought he was slick at first but he seems to have been comprehensively ID'd. If I was him, I'd either give it back, or flea to Mexico with it and other stealings and preserve his rep.

You have to use your real name when opening a bank account.

Not much to tell. Saw the ad for camera at a good price. Exchange emails, he was willing to either meet or ship it. As I live far from Busan, where he claimed to be, I sent the money. Then as he supposed to ship it today, I got funny feeling. Check his email, has been closed, silly me believe him for not having phone, but bank account checks out so....I always seems so cautious, as I probably done over 200 deals on CL, but he surely got me, or rather my greed. Anyway warning for others, beware.

Do you commonly get items shipped to you when dealing with craigslist/kijiji?? I do tons of Kijiji deals in Canada but never ship stuff, everything is done in person. Never had a problem and I am a kijiji *beep*.

Not to be mean but I feel like it's your own fault for doing exchanges this way unless it is done through a legit site like ebay/amazon.

BTW you do know Korea has their own form of kijiji http://corners.auction.co.kr/corner/UsedMarket.aspx, you will also find way more selection than on craigslist Korea... why would a Korean use an English site like craigslist when no other Koreans use it unless it was to swindle Foreigners.
