Hi
does anyone know what happens with your pay scale/grade when you move to a different province?
say one's on a 2+ or 1+ in one province and leaves for a year or shorter, they return to Korea in a different province, does that mean they continue with their previous salary level or are they immediately demoted to the basic entrance level E2 salary in public system?
Thanks.

Its as if you are starting over.
There are clear-cut criteria for where you slot into the payscale. Previous experience (with EPIK or anywhere) can count towards your rank determination, but beyond that, they aint gonna budge. |

If you change POEs then USUALLY you go back to level 2 (EPIK scale)
(the level number used differs from EPIK to GEPIK and some POEs - ie: 1,2,3,3+..., 3,2,2+, 1, 1+...)
The "+" pay levels usually require that you have renewed for 1 or 2 (or more) years at the same school / district.
In some cases you can get to level 2+ or level 1 if you have extensive experience at public schools.
The specifics of each pay level are clearly defined by the respective POEs and as long as you meet the criteria you should be placed in the appropriate level.

Unrelated question. If you want to go to a specific POE or MOE can you just go to the main Ed office there and ask for a job? Some places don't seem to use recruiters and applying for EPIK seems a crapshoot. I mean if you have experience in another province teaching. |

Yes, you can go to the POE / city office of education or even directly to schools.
Make sure you have a bilingual cover letter and resume.
