|
|
Hi Guys,
I have an E2 Visa and I currently work for a University. My question is can I obtain written permission from my school to work a summer camp at another school during the holidays? And does this adhere to all the stipulations required for E2 visa holders ergo making it legal?
Thanks alot! |

Well, don't stop there.
If you want to be legal, also go to immigration. I have never done this, but my understanding is that they would add a location of employment for the time you would be working at your second location.
Bring a contract along. Your 2nd school might be able to go with you to make sure everything is legit. If the 2nd school refuses, it is quite likely they aren't interested in doing things legally. |

Answer:
yes.
I used this form this week to give to my principal. I will go to immi on Friday to submit it. I need to give immi a copy of my Summer camp contract and the original consent letter. Fill out the immi paperwork and ... I'm not sure about the money, but that's peanuts.
Template:
Letter of Consent for Alteration or Addition of Employment Place
Name of Teacher: Who Are You
Nationality:
Alien Registration Number: 981334-5000123
The above named person has been working at SCHOOL NAME since March 1, 2011 as a foreign ESL teacher.
We hereby give our consent to TEACHER to add and work for the employer SUM YUNG GUYS from July 30, 2012 to September 7, 2012.
Dated July 10, 2012
Name of School
Representative on behalf of School
Have a good one. |

It costs 60K at immi. And if they say no, what will you do, you've already tipped your hand. |

Thanks alot Emark for your advice,
I researched this topic a bit more on the threads and supposedly this is completely legal. It does cost 60,000 won and if one immigration officer says no. Get another number and try another one because this process is legal. If they still say no then obviously don't work at the summer camp you were trying to work at because like the previous post said "you've already tipped your hand".
Other than that thanks alot guys should be fine with the school and immigration happy teaching for extra money at a summer camp and making some good coin.

Letter of permission from your employer
ARC
passport
contract for the camp
business registration from the camp (copy)
application form
fee (60k won)
Done while you wait at the counter of your local immigration office.

Why would immi deny someone who's following proceedure?
My encounters at K-immi have been positive. As long as I have all the documents, they help me just fine. They have attitude to those who are trying to hide something, cheat the system, or ignore the rules.
Thanks tttompatz for the reminder to bring:
buisness license / business registration from the camp.
Have a great summer, campers! |

have also done it. not a big deal at all. Kimmi could care less - just fill out the forms, pay the fee. go have a beer before camp (you'll be glad you did) |

I got permission to teach a camp, and wasn't charged the 60,000 Won fee. The immigration official didn't even mention it. He looked over my documents, gave me a sheet of paper explaining the addition and something about having to notify immigration if there are any changes to the camp, etc.
He took my ARC, my passport, and 10 minutes later I got my ARC back, and my Passport with a "permission" sticker in it for the camp.
Anybody else didn't get charged? What gives? I have talked to this same immigration official 4 months ago, when I had a really interesting request/issue, and he helped me out and took care of my request. Really nice guy.
I keep hearing all these negative experiences with immigration officials, but for the past 4.5 years, ALL of my experiences have been very positive. Knock on wood |

Hey Guys,
My camp just called me and said there is no 60,000 won charge and said all they need from me is a copy of my ARC, Passport and a letter of permission. Then they said they can go to the immigration office when the camp starts with their business registration and whatever else to let immigration know.
I don't think they would have any reason to lie about this but I am wondering if anyone else has had the same experience this year. They told me things got alot simpler but I am wondering if any funny business might be taking place.
Any insight would be helpful |

Here is my story of getting guy summer camp job added to my visa.
I asked my school if it was cool to do the camp while the school was out for vacation. They said yes.
I looked for and found a job that coincided with the time period, signed the contract and reported the news to my school.
I gave them the letter (see my template I posted) to read and sign. The principal signed it, but no stamp. He gave me a copy of the business license.
Off to K-immi today and I brought this:
-the summer camp contract, & a copy of their business license,
-my schools consent letter and a copy of their business license,
-my passport and ARC,
-the application form to alter / add employment.
At the immi office, the officer gave me a second paper to fill out. I gave her all my documents to look over while I completed the 2nd form. She made copies of the contract and returned it to me. She gave me a thick plastic tag and told me to wait. About 15 minutes later, they called my name and returned my ARC and passport with a cute sticker on the page next to my visa sticker, and a document outlining my obligations and the rules of secondary employment.
All done in less than 30 minutes.
You smart people will ask where the 60,000 won part of the story is. Well, I didn't pay anything! I even asked the officer "all my yo?" and she waved her hand saying "ayn ni yo" (or something like that).
Maybe it's my good looks, charm, and obvious male magnetism that made her do it for free. (BIG b-s!) Obviously, there is no charge for this service!
Happy summer camp everyone! |
