Hi folks,

After months of well-meaning nagging from my girlfriend, I am finally doing something about my feet.

I'm looking for a doctor who won't gouge me for orthopedic shoes. My feet demolish normal shoes, and I've been going through dress shoes like candy.

I live in the Itaewon area, and I know of one guy that charges a fortune - but I'd go further afield to save money.

Any suggestions?

There is a place just east (100-200m) of St. Vincent's hospital in Suwon that can do them for you. It has a big sign on the door and window. You can't miss it.

My orthopedic doctor however is no longer in Suwon (moved to Bundang) so I can't help you with that part of it.

Thanks tthompatz, any idea of the cost, or anyone who has recently bought these things? Just trying to get an idea of the going rate.

Thanks!

Sorry, I don't know what the costs would be.

Besides being insanely expensive, up to 300 dollars, there is mounting evidence that pronation/suppination control footwear and or orthodics and insoles are actually doing more harm than good. And even after you buy them there is a good chance that they wont work.

The reason: Orthocis make your feet weaker.

Part of the reason more and more people are opting for minimalist shoes is due to the increased strength of the foot.

I used to have terrible pain from my flat feet. I switched out my old clunky Mizuno motion control runners to some simple flats.

I also went barefoot almost anywhere I could. It wasn't easy but my arches have actually risen and I don't have any of the old foot pain at all.

Do a search on barefoot walking/ foot exercises. You'll be glad you did.

Interesting point of view. In my case however I have high arches. I think it was all the barefoot walking I did when I was younger that did the damage.
