Who says Korea sucks?

DETROIT, United States (AFP) - Korean-branded cars and trucks beat out US and European brands in an influential survey of vehicle quality for the first time on record this year, an auto analysis firm said.

Actually, they were second in quality, after Japan.

Still, they've come a long way.

quality -is only one aspect of a car - how about size and power (grunt) ... they would have been last on the list.....

yeah but arent their exported cars of a better quality than their local market cars??

Ive heard just the opposite...I thought that they, especially in the past, have exported their good stuff to increase business. I would think thats its all about the same though, just a difference of opinion I guess.
I still wouldnt buy one.

I think the Koreans deserve a lot of credit on this one. They've done a great job. Good for them.

Did anyone actually read about this? They had less recalls. Thats it. Not to do with finish on the cars or anything like that. It is a good sign, but hardly surprising given the lack of varity in Korean cars.

Korean cars will still fail to live up to their Japanese counterparts until I'm convinced otherwise.

Quality seems covered. Now they just need to work on design and performance (which includes dynamics) and maybe they might get my (ALMIGHTY IMPORTANT) seal of approval.. :)

I hear Pat Simcoe (the genius in charge of the Monaro project @ Holden) is head of design at Daewoo now. First things first, I hope he ditches that God-awful grille.

Their exports have to be of a better quality than their domestic product. Hyundai in Oz have always been that little bit ahead of the local competition on price and extras. Quality was not always the issue there. They are getting better at building cars though. Smile

The 'best' Korean cars are still Japanese derivitaves: the Samsung SM3 and SM5 are Nissan products from five years ago. The humble yet indestructable Tico is a rebadged Diahatsu Mira.
