My recruiter is now telling me that not only did I need to FED EX my apostilled fbi background check and diploma, but now I need to go through the whole process again so I can have the documents when I arrive in Korea. Is this for real? I'm just wondering if anyone else had to do this. I'm pretty sure I won't be able to get another background check before I leave in 2 weeks... |

I'm currently going through the process and there was no mention of having another copy. All that paperwork is sent to your school so they can send it to immigration. Once you have your visa, that's all you'll need to get into the country. |

He is talking about the set you will need for the MOE (not part of the immigration / visa process).
You can get immigration made copies (with their certification letter) to use instead of a new set of originals after you get here.

Where will you live OP?
I'm wondering if anyone has actually had to go through this process of getting two sets done? I live in Busan and before I came here (March 2012) my recruiter said I needed one set, but then another set AFTER I arrived. Sometime within the first or second month of my arrival.
It's been almost 5 months now and nobody has said anything to me, nor the other teachers who work here. I've asked others and they've said the same thing. Maybe the school will take care of that for you? |

I would get 2 FBI CBC's and another apostilled diploma anyway and have them sent to your address in Korea later (don't send them to the school address). They might come in handy later after having to change positions because of a shady hagwon. |

TTompatz is correct, you only need to go through background check hell once. Once in country immigration will provide copies that will be accepted by all the MOEs. A lot of recruiters have no idea what they are talking about and just repeat what other people tell them.
There are numerous successful stories of people getting immigration to copy their documents for $3 and then taking them to the local MOE. |
