You'd be surprised at how quickly clothes dry without a dryer. I fully expected it to take a few days, when it actually takes a few hours. |
Sure, weather permitting. Monsoon season? Easily a week. That's just gross.
Having a dryer helps immensely when you need fresh clothes urgently and can't wait a day for them to dry though. |

True.
Or subsribe to a laudry service and when rainy season hits, pack some emergency clothes somewhere where they will remain dry just in case.... |

Yes, I have one. Check a LG shop or department store and you'll be able to find one if you really want a dedicated dryer.
Note, however, that many front loading washers now are combo units that have dryer functionality. So you may get lucky and could wind up with one of those. |

Everyone keeps saying about a laundry service but no one points out how to find one of these places.
All of the laundry places only offer service by the article of clothing, not for a load.
What is the laundry service type places called? Places that pick up from your house? Any websites or links?
How much per KG? |

Be warned that using a dryer on a regular basis will drive up your electric bill to astronomical levels. |

"Astronomical levels" is a bit of an exaggeration.
I technically have TWO dryers in my apt: a combo front loading washer/dryer and a dedicated LG dryer. I've run both units at the same time on a few occasions when I'm in a rush to do more than one load or if I cram the washer and want to divide the load for more "tumble" room while drying.
Whether I dry 1 load per month or 8 loads per month (=2 loads per week), I don't notice a significant difference in my monthly maintenance bill. I'm sure there is a difference, but not enough for me to say, "WOW, I need to cut back on my dryer use".
But in the end, it all depends... I've heard electricity rates in officetels are higher than regular apartments. I've heard that using more electricity can bump you up into a more costly rate bracket. Families use more electricity than a single person, so the increase would be a smaller percentage change in your overall usage. So, YMMV.
BTW... in case Ballerina is interested, my unit is the LG RC9011A. Google it for more info in English. Or search for it on auction.co.kr or gmarket.co.kr for pricing reference. It's 2 years old, and probably discontinued or replaced with a new model, but seems to be still available for sale. |
