Yes, I was really surprised by this. I found the course to be informative and interesting (although really hard as it was above my level!). When I have time I may study the book on my own again someday. |

I went through the history of this thread and it looks like:
B - Reading - Mostly questions that are about TOPIK intermediary level or easier..
A - Writing - Very limited writing (2 or 3 questions where we write just a single word to fill in the blank)
C - Speaking - A speaking test after the reading/writing test where we are to read a paragraph out loud to check out pronunciation.
D - Listening - None?
So, I have been studying TOPIK beginner and intermediate books and previous tests to prepare. Some questions
1 - Are the reading quesitons on this test like the short-style reading questions where we read 1 or 2 sentences and choose a multiple choise answer?
2 - Or, are the questions more on the style where we read a paragraph or short article, 5-10 sentences and answer 1 or several multiple choice questions about the paragraph?
3 - My understanding is that TOPIK level 2 is just a high (above 70) score on the Level 1 test... I am finding the Level 1 tests really really easy so I am going to buy a test book and prep book for intermediate topik (level 3).. As far as I know, there is no specific Level 2 test or test prep material / books correct? Once Level 1 tests are mastered, one should look at Level 3 material?
Thanks everyone! |

I took the placement test about a year ago, and I know they have been changing the test over time, so expect my info to be somewhat outdated.

Correct to A, B, and D. There was no speaking portion when I took the test, but I hear there is one now.

Smart move. If you haven't been doing so already, study a naturalization test prep book, too.

When I took it, the most complicated ones had us read 3-5 sentence paragraphs then answer a multiple choice question. On the written test, there were short paragraphs we had to read then give a single word answer to. There were descriptions of kimchi, the president, and the Korean proverb for shutting the barn door after the horse is already gone.

Not when I took the entrance exam, but there were questions like this on the final exam.

That's right, the TOPIK test and prep materials covering it are divided into three categories:
Beginner (levels 1-2)
Intermediate (levels 3-4)
Advanced (levels 5-6)
Studying intermediate level TOPIK materials may very well help you get a higher placement on the Integration program's entrance exam, so that's probably a good investment of your time to help you get through the program faster. Keep in mind, though, that completing the Integration program gives you the exact same points for language ability (15 points) as passing the intermediate TOPIK test. Once you take the integration entrance exam, there's not much point in studying intermediate TOPIK books any more.
Once again, good luck! |

It is nice to know that I have batchmates here!
Pardon my ignorance, I cant find the 응시표 thing so I cant see the place of examination on July 28.
My plan is just wait near July 28 days and hope that details will be posted there.
Regarding the preparation, I dont have any.
Anyway, I am expecting to be in level 0 haha
My Korean is really bad despite being here for almost 6 years with E-7 visa (Im working as an engineer, by the way).
I can read Korean but speaking is very limited.
Now I am dead serious of improving my Korean.
Assuming, I will start at level 0, how long will I take to finish it?
I am currently 30 years old, I hope I can maximize the 30-34 age bracket for 25 points!
Hi Daniel, are these books purely in Korean ?
-Ross King Elementary and Continuing Korean
-Complete Guide to TOPIK |

Hi santino,
No, those books are English and Korean. I strongly recommend the Ross King Elementary Korean.. The Complete Guide to TOPIK, I am still going through, not totally sold on it, I am feeling like practice TOPIK tests are the best way to prep. |

Looking at the notices page on the socinet.go.kr site I found a hwp file with a list of test locations for a midterm exam held last month (제1차 중간평가 장소 알림). In that case the locations were only announced 2 days before the test, but I guess it's a safe bet the locations will be the same next week. In most locations the test was held at the local immigration centre itself. Anyway, keep an eye on the page at 알림마당 > 공지사항 for the official word. Hopefully something will pop up there soon! |

Giving this a little bump as today's the last day you can apply for the placement test. There won't be another one until next year.

Ridiculous.
What having the last one of the year in the summer vacation season.
Most Koreans will start their vacation that weekend, and any immigrant spouse will likely be out of the country or otherwise engaged, not available to sit some exam. |

What a bizarre article. It sounds like they're describing the F-2-7, but in the future tense. Maybe the reporter is a time traveler from 2009? |

Locations have been updated. I'm apparently writing in 대한민국예술인센터 5층 "한국이민재단". No address given, but google maps shows somewhere in Mokdong... |

Hi furtakk, are you seeing an updated location on the "My Page" section of socinet?
I am still showing '밎정' for 평가장소 hmmm.
Anyone else seeing updated locations? Maybe I'll call them tomorrow/Thursday. |

Mine's also been updated, and is showing "수원출입국 3층 대회의실" as I expected. I guess the individual offices are in charge of updating the test locations and assigning people to them so maybe yours is just a little slow. Which immigration office are you under? |
