I'm glad to hear you saw it and liked it.

thanks for saying so.

I think films like this are really rare for many reasons. there are films that might be in one country and have an American star in them, like Bourne Identity, filmed in Europe, etc., but in those the country is just scenery and background.

here it was part of the story, which made it different and unique.

off the top of my head I don't know of other similar films but will definitely post if I think of any; hopefully others will also.

cheers!

Le Grand Chef 2: Kimchi Battle has a pretty good story underlining the big kimchi cooking challenge. It's on The Flix

I'm sure it's a good film but the point of this thread's discussion was about films in one culture with the protagonist being from an entirely different culture and how the story unfolds in this regard.

Does anybody know a streaming site I could watch Shogun on? It was a hugely popular miniseries in the 80s or 90s.... 17th centruy English Navigaor shipwrecked in Japan during the middle of a feudal period.... Something like that, I don't remember all of it due to it being around 9hrs long. I think he fell in love with his interpreter and stays... I'll google it.
