Going to visit Gwangju after a long absence. Wondering if things have progressed beyond the Speakeasy and/or Soul Train in terms of night spots in downtown. Assuming the area downtown between Migliore and Burger King is still the place to go at night. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks. |

The only club I noticed that's new (but I've been gone three years) is Bubble bar, which for me is just so smoky that I find it unbearable (and that's saying something in Korea)
The bus terminal has some new stuff, I' not sure if you've checked that out.
I miss gwangju, great foreigner community, but so difficult to get certain things...had much more fun down there than up north for some reason. Winters are much more bearable too. |

German Bar 1 and 2 (both downtown) are good spots on the weekends, #2 has a pool table and is running drink specials on the homemade house weizen and dunkels. Lately people have been at a club called Holic, on the same side of the street as Bubble, but closer to the subway station. |

I second the German bar for good beer, Bubble bar is horrid (IMO), Speakeasy is nice and friendly. |
