One of the many links to the "recommended" limits is below:

http://alcoholism.about.com/od/effect/a/too_much.htm

Basically four drinks for men and three for women. Doesn't this
seem absurdly low? Or have my drinking habits become Koreanized?

Even the conservative Korean drinkers seem to drink more than this.

I usually train for marathons. i.e. about 14 pints and then a chicken vindaloo.

Yeah, I wish I could go out and only have 3 or 4 drinks. It always starts off fine with a few beers until someone starts ordering soju or shots. lol

It's impossible to state a maximum limit for everyone, as people's metabolisms and livers differ so much. I know people who will be throwing up the morning after having 3 beers. THREE. They'll feel ill for the morning and won't drink again for a couple weeks.

I know other people who drink every day, 3 or 4 liters of strong beer and have no discernible reaction the following morning. They've been doing it for years and rarely actually feel 'drunk'.

I also know someone who regularly drank up to a quart and a half of whisky every night for two decades, but he was still driving at 100+mph on the highway to work the following morning and never had an accident. Shocked

The limits are, thus, not something to be taken too seriously. They're a guideline to what you're 'expected' to drink by our government but your own tolerances may differ, wildly.

If I have 6 I feel terrible the next day, so I keep it to 5 or less in winter. In summer, 4 is the max. I had three yesterday, no problem, and then the 4th got me eating the whole fridge Laughing

My body can't take it I guess with the heat.
