The book I used is called 귀화시험 한번에 통과하기. Good luck!

I picked up this book last week and it's great. Nowhere near enough time to read (and internalise) the entire thing before this weekend so I'm concentrating on the Korean holidays and food/celebrations that go along with them. Knowing what 강강술래 is has taken a weight off my mind Wink Thanks for the tip.

You're welcome. If you're picking and choosing sections of the naturalization book, you should probably include the proverbs, too. There are maybe 20 in the book and a different one of them came up on both my entrance exam and the final exam for the program.

I'm in Daejeon, and I haven't heard anything yet either. Hopefully we'll get some news tomorrow.

My status was updated today. I now know the location of the test, however, there is no indication of what time it will take place. Does anyone know where to find this information?
Secondly, on the 응시표, I am down to do the 사전평가. Is that what others who have signed up are scheduled to do, too?

I just called the Daejoen Migrant Workers Center and they told me that the test is at 12 30. I don't know if this test time is standardized throughout the country.

Ah great, mine is also updated now. Looks like I'm going to 동의대학교 법정대학 202호

Great Smile

For the veterans, did you find results were posted about 2 weeks afterwards? Easy enough to find the results on the 'My Page' section?

Good luck everyone!

Yes i think most tests start at 13:00.
Given the standard 'be here 30 minutes before the test starts' policy, that sounds about right. Enjoy the test.

From the Socinet website:

시험일시는 2012년 7월 28일, 토요일, 오후1시부터입니다.
시험 시작시간 이후부터는 시험장 입장이 불가능하므로 늦지 않도록 입실완료 바랍니다.
또한, 반드시 "응시표, 신분증, 필기구"를 지참하시기 바랍니다.

Saturday July 28th, 1.00pm.
It's not possible to enter the exam hall once the test has started so please arrive early.
Make sure you bring your exam card, ID card and writing materials.

The exam card is the 응시표 on your "My Page" - make sure you print it out and bring it along.

Good luck tomorrow!

So... how was it everyone?

I actually thought there were very few culture related questions. There was the one about 삼계탕 which was pretty simple and also the other one about funeral money, but besides that they were all strictly grammar / vocab questions.

It was actually quite harder than I thought. The last two pages had a lot of really advanced grammar.

The speaking test was fairly straightforward though.

Results come out next week!

It was actually easier than I'd thought. If you've studied Korean in a formal setting, you could see that the questions mimic the kinds of grammar/ language points you have to learn (at Yonsei, Sogang, etc).

Is anyone else on a spousal visa? I was hoping to get some free Korean classes out of it, but I have a feeling I'll be placed into the culture program.

Is the culture program a good way to practice Korean? I don't really see the benefit of it for me at this point. If I we stay here long enough, I'll get an F5 anyway~

I also found it quite hard at the last two pages. Definitely intermediate TOPIK not beginner at the end.

I did really well with the speaking party, so I am hoping that gets a lot of weight put on it. Has anyone heard about the weighting for the different parts of yesterdays test?

Really looking forward to the results.

Also, as mentioned with other tests, there were a lot of Chinese and Vietnam ladies there. A few I saw with Korean husbands as they arrived. I wonder, what is the reason for all those people to be taking the test? Is it just that they want to learn Korean and about Korean Culture? Or do they get some benefit with immigration or other benefits package / employment etc?

Yeah.. like others have said I also found the test easier than I was expecting. I was glad there were no difficult culture based questions and there were only 2 questions I'm not sure if I got correct. I was a bit miffed after the speaking exam though as I didn't get asked any open-ended questions - I could basically only reply yes or no with a little embellishment. Unlike Daniel1981 I'm hoping the speaking test result isn't weighted too heavily!

Not too long to wait for the results. Fingers crossed.

Probly still too early but doesn't look like results are up yet. Although, I'm not quite sure where to look. I just hit My Page and it shows me the same stuff before the test (test date, location, etc). I wonder where the results likely will show up. Wink

Ah nvm~ I see it now, 점수 on My Page.. Will keep an eye out for it there~
